Helmut is a Professor of Soft Robotics and Morphological Computation at the University of Bristol. He leads the Morphological Computation Group and is the director of the EPRSC Centre for Doctoral Training in Autonomous Systems and Robots called FARSCOPE. Helmut is a researcher and educator in the field of robotics with over 20 years of experience. He has developed outreach workshops with hands-on building experience for participants in the context of soft robotics. He has also won multiple outreach awards including Best Presentation Award at Pint of Science, invited public outreach talks including to New Scientist, Lates at Science Museum London, Science Museum Valencia (Spain), American High School’s Inspire Speaker Series, and others.
