Roboticist, Baker & Ice cream maker

Yael is in the 3rd year of her PhD where she is researching the design, fabrication, and validation of a high-fidelity dynamic pelvic floor simulator for medical training and patient education. She is passionate about using soft robotics and bio-inspired design in applied research in healthcare and sustainability. Since 2022, Yael has been co-leading Women in Robotics UK, growing an empowering community, creating and facilitating impact-driven events and consulting on Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility. Before pursuing her PhD, Yael worked as a Research Associate in the EnergyREV consortium – a multi-disciplinary collaboration, developing the models, infrastructure, and policy required for transitioning to decentralised, decarbonised and digitalised energy systems. Yael facilitated focus groups, workshops and interviews with community energy groups, academics and local councils to explore future skills and training needs. During this time, she was working with the committee for the ICT4S conference, as Student Volunteer Chair, responsible for implementing the team selection and managing the team leading up to and during the conference.
